V? Hm, been a long time since you call... - Mama Welles

If you're like me, you aren't all that social and aren't the kind of person to initiate a holocall that often, unless a quest reminds you to. Plus, given how often people don't even pick up when you call, you quickly give up trying to call anyone at all outside of quests. Well, now there's a fix for that.

With this mod, every time you plop your butt down in a vehicle, there's a chance you might accidentally butt dial a random contact. Oops! Uh, hey, Mama Welles... yeah, I totally meant to call... *sweatdrop*

How to use:

This mod requires redscript. In addition, unless you want to run with the default settings, then you also need Mod Settings. Mod Settings itself requires ArchiveXL and RED4ext.

Once all that's installed, go into Mod Settings and adjust your settings.

Your chance of butt dialing each time you mount a vehicle is X out of Y. Using Mod Settings you can set both X and Y to specify this X/Y chance. By default, it's a 15% chance. X can be set between 0 and 100 (0 turns the mod off). Y can be set between 1 and 100. Yay math.

To prevent annoying your phone contacts (or yourself) too much, you can also set a time to avoid calling the same contact twice. By default this is 7 days. You won't butt dial the same contact again until this many days have passed. This can be set between 0 and 30 days.

Important Note about a 2.1 bug:

There's one contact that will break your game if you call them (after you've completed their quest). In 2.1 (and possibly other versions, I dunno), they accept your call, but then don't speak, and you're stuck in a call forever which blocks you from doing a lot of things, like quest progression, saving, making/getting other calls, etc. I will be reporting this bug to CDPR when I get the chance, maybe it'll be fixed in a future version.

For now, to prevent this mod from triggering the bug, the mod will never call the contact that causes it (after you've completed their quest). So far I haven't found any other contact that's bugged this way.

No spoilers (though if you look at the mod's source code you'll see which contact I'm talking about). You may eventually figure out which contact isn't getting called but it only applies after you've done their quest. So in general you probably won't notice this unless you wonder to yourself "how come I never butt dial so-and-so?" Well now you know.

Important Note about whether they answer or not:

This mod isn't affecting this in any way. This is just making a call exactly the same way you could if you weren't too lazy. =P

So, most people don't answer you. This is normal. Some people will answer you sometimes but not others (depending on which quest you're on). Also normal.

Some people will answer you every time, though. Who answers (and what they have to say) may surprise you. Discovering these conversations that you may not have known existed is the whole fun of this mod.

But the mod isn't adding anything to the game that wasn't already there. It just automates and randomizes your outgoing calls in a fun way.

Suggested mod to also get:

It's not my mod, but I suggest you also get Disable Movement Keybinds for Dialogue Selection. Since you will probably be driving somewhere during your call, this will help keep your driving and your talking separate. Or not. Up to you.

In Conclusion:

Hope you enjoy it. Yet again this is a mod I made mostly for myself but am sharing in case any others want/like it, too.

The idea is to add a little randomization to your playthrough, especially for those of us who have done so many playthroughs already. Using this mod you can let the choice of when (and who) to call to advance a quest be relatively random.

Let me know any issues you come across and I'll see what I can do. This mod is very simple however and I'd be surprised if there's any issues.
