About this mod
Introduces a simple scroll crafting system, and an entire skill tree to support a scroll-centric playstyle with powerful toys for those who specialize into it. Compatible with all spell mods with no need for patches.

Scrolls suck. Let's spice them up a bit.
At its core, Scroll Scribe is designed to give players a simple way to create their own scrolls of any spell they like.
Any valid spell from any mod is automatically detected and included in the crafting system.
Scrolls from mods are also automatically patched to work with Scroll Scribe's perks.
The crafting process requires only two things:
Arcane Dust
A new miscellaneous item that can be acquired in various ways.
Primarily this will come from Soul Gems, which will be automatically converted to Arcane Dust and back during crafting.
Mod-added Soul Gems are fully supported.
Rolls of Paper
A vanilla game item. You can find these in lots of places, but they are still very rare, so an alternative way of obtaining them has been added.
Like Arcane Dust, Paper will also be automatically converted from (and to) Ruined Books and Burned Books when you enter or leave crafting mode.
By default, only spells you have learned can be crafted in this way.
The basics: Crafting
Scroll Scribe comes with just one ability: Scribe Tools
This summons and dispels the workbench used for crafting.
Concentration
Spells like Flames and Frostbite cannot normally be put on scrolls due to how they work, which renders many core early game spells useless.
Scroll Scribe makes it possible with a small workaround.
Using a concentration scroll first "unleashes" the spell, which leaves a brief lingering effect. Flames will burn the enemy; Healing will heal you briefly.
Then, you temporarily gain a copy of the spell, which can be cast at no Magicka cost. This is a separate spell, and does not conflict with the real one.
When it expires, the spell is lost and the scroll goes back into your hand (assuming you have another one).
Inscription
Scroll Scribe comes with its own custom skill and perk tree meant to enable and enhance a playstyle centered around scrolls.
If you don't care about that, you can safely ignore it and just use the crafting and concentration scroll mechanics.
As of writing this, there are 19 perks to spend points on.
Some simply increase the power of your scrolls, others enable you to acquire more resources to spend on crafting.
But there are also a few special perks, such as...
Workbench Tools
The basic workbench used for crafting can be upgraded with perks, adding handy and powerful toys to play with.
I don't want to spoil what they do. But if you are curious, a description of all perks is in the Documentation.
While I consider Scroll Scribe "finished" as far as the core concept is concerned, the mod is still a work in progress.
Some things may be too strong, too weak, useless, or completely broken. Things might change, or they might not.
If you have suggestions or complaints, leave them in the comments.
Thank you.
Installation
Install as you would any other mod.
Important
The way Scroll Scribe injects its scrolls into the game can be sensitive to load order changes.
If you add or remove plugins (.esp, .esl, .esm) mid-playthrough, it is possible for your crafted scrolls to change or disappear.
I did my best to mitigate and resolve such conflicts, but it may still happen. You have been warned.
If you DO experience weird behavior (scrolls vanishing after reloading, not gaining Inscription exp from crafting, etc): delete \skse\plugins\_m3ScrollScribeExtender.scrolls.ini
Also important
This mod does make a change to the charging speed of all spells, or how long you need to hold down the button before you can fire a spell.
For regular spells, the speed is doubled. For concentration spells, charging time is removed completely to make them less clunky when in scroll form.
If you do not want this behavior, set 'ModSpellChargingTime = true' to 'ModSpellChargingTime = false' inside skse\plugins\_m3ScrollScribeExtender.scrolls.ini
Updating
When updating within the same major version, simply overwrite the old files. Normally this will be safe.
When updating to a different major version, a clean save is required.
Clean save means:
1. Disable/delete the mod (everything, not just the .esp)
2. Load your game, make a new save, and quit the game
3. Enable the mod and continue the latest save
Optional but highly recommended: Sell or destroy all your crafted Scrolls beforehand to avoid weird things happening.
Uninstallation
Same as usual. Should be safe to remove at any point.
Compatibility
Should be compatible with absolutely everything.
